
Cholera: The causative and the risk of proliferation
The Faculty of Science at Al-Karkh University of Science had organized a seminar entitled "Cholera: the causative and the dangers of proliferation" with the participation of a number of researchers and specialists. The seminar presented by Dr. Esraa Abdel-Jabbar Ibrahim, a scientific assistant at the college, she explained the cholera disease. Cholera is a severe intestinal bacterial infection caused by eating food or water contaminated with cholera bacteria. The infection affects the digestive system, especially the small intestine. It affects children and adults alike.
There are two kinds of cholera V. cholera strains, O139 and O1, cause epidemics in the world. Water, flies, raw or poorly cooked seafood, and unclean fruits and vegetables are a vector. Local cases of cholera were reported in several cases in 2015, and the Government has implemented timely preventive and preventive measures using vaccines in areas of spread in cities, villages and refugee camps.
