Al-Karkh University of Science discussed with the Russian ambassador how to open the horizons
The Chancellor of Al-Karkh Universityof Science, Prof. Dr. Thamir A. Hassan, discussed ways of opening horizons for joint scientific and academic cooperation with the Russian universities during a meeting with Russian Ambassador in Iraq, Mr. Maksim Maksimov.
In view of the role of the Federal Republic of Russia in providing higher education in Iraq with the necessary expertise, the Chancellor of Al-Karkh University of Science, Prof. Dr. Thamir said, “we hope to expand the horizons of joint cooperation between the two sides through training, development and opening up to the corresponding Russian universities at Al-Karkh University.”
The University's plan for the coming period includes the expansion of the opening of more specialized colleges and research centers. The University has already cooperated with several international academic institutions in Europe, including DAAD, Darmstadt University, Aachen University, Bonn University, Copenhagen University in Denmark, and the University seeks to sign many memoranda of understanding, which contribute to the development of scientific and academic aspects.
For his part, the Ambassador, Mr. Maksim Maksimov, stressed the need to intensify scientific cooperation with the universities of Iraq and open avenues of joint cooperation with the Al-Karkh University of Science. Additionally, the ambassador said that the Russian Republic offered 150 fellowships during the year, and we hope that this number will increase over the next year, promising that he will exert more efforts in building bridges of cooperation with the university.
At the end of the meeting, the Chancellor of Al-Karkh University granted the shield of the University to the Russian Ambassador, expressing his gratitude for the role of Russia in supporting the educational process in Iraq. The ambassador greatly appreciated the effort exerted by the university chancellorship and promised to make more communication in the interest of higher education.
