An Instructor in l-Karkh University of Science Receives the Best Research Award for Genetics and Environment in the Fifth International Conference
Dr. Asmaa Sami Ibrahim received the best scientific research award in the field of genetics and environment in the fifth international conference, which was organized by the Society for the Conservation of Genetic Resources and the Environment of Iraq. The conference was in cooperation with the Iraqi Ministry of Health and Environment, the Canadian Institute of Health Sciences and the Palm Iraqi Environmental Organization.
The study included the study of genetics and evolutionary relations between fish, and the study of the system of sexual identification in the (Mystus pelusius) by G-banding technology.
The research aims at investigating the sexual chromosomes and the type of sexual identification system in some type of Iraqi fish by using one of the techniques of G-banding. This technique is used due to the diversity of systems of sexual identification in fish, the lack of studies in Iraqi fish in this aspect, the importance of information provided to researchers in the field of genetic studies, and evolutionary relations between the species of the fish.
